Work avoidance Ride

Yup, went for a 25 mile ride to avoid work... It was a good ride but I pushed myself a little to hard. Was pretty exhausted when I got home. Drank a ton of water, took a shower, and ate and felt pretty good again. Front brake has issue, I need to look at that before I go on a ride again

ugh

So, new chain on, headed over t0 quarry ridge to do some fast laps and play around with tire preasure. Had a good convo with one of the guys at the LBS and he had some good advice about what to try.

Of course, the parking lot and trail head are still under 3 feet of water, so I hop up on military ridge and down to the entrance about a 1/4 mile down. Start spinning a lap, hit the first steep incline, shift, stand up, pop, pop, grind, pop....Off the bike, walk up the hill. Get back on start gong again playing with gears, start to build some speed knowing the bigger hill with sand and rocks is coming, AND pop, pop, grind, pop....Off the bike again, walking, walking, swearing, walking. So, I'm like WTF? Look at my cassette, its pretty worn, the old chain was stretched and fit the groves, the new one isn't. So I stop at the LBS and they don't have one in stock, so I ordered it. God I hope it shows up early next week. I want to get some miles on the bike and make sure its working well before I head to Crystal ridge for the Sunburst Showdown in 1.5 weeks. I guess any riding I do until I get the part will be on my cross bike with road tires...Hmm, I wonder if I swap my tires again if I could ride that at Crystal ridge.........Now THAT is an idea :)

Wors Race, Franklin, WI

Well, showed up for the Alterra Coffee Bean Classic.....14 minutes and just under 3 miles in to the race I jump about 3 gears and stand up on my pedals on a flat fire road area, it was time to pass some folks before the next single track...PING! my chain is smoked...My first DNF since starting to race last year. Very disappointing day, only made worse by another team mate blowing his chain out, and yet another partial flatting, he was able to finish on about 10 PSI (tubless, must have resealed)

New chains on already, I need to get some good work in this week. I spent to much time on the road the last 3 weeks, my MTN bike felt aquard, that is not a good thing. From now on I will make sure at least 20% of my miles are in the woods.

Next race, Sunburst showdown...another ski hill, ugg.

My pics for the race are up on my Photo site. WWW.Nachobar.com Go check them out

Dusk is Bliss

Planned on taking a ride this afternoon, a little treat to myself for hard study. So around 2 I gear up and grab my bike, which has a flat....great. I must have run over somthing puling into the house. So, I change, and decide to take the bike to the Trek West store where I bought it. I can change my own tubes, but I had a free flat fix coupon and I needed to go to Target anyway.

I get back, late, eat dinner at 5 and write off riding today, but god, it looked so nice out, I decided to give this dusk a little ride.

I put in my headphones oiled my chain and was off. The air was crisp and fresh, the road smooth and comforting. I'm finding myself adicted to the idea of longer and longer rides, I go to another world in my own head, a place I have not visited since I was a child. I like this place, and each ride I get excited to go back...

Only 19.21 tonight but I am getting faster. Every ride this week has increased my MPH by a few seconds. I hope I can keep it up, but my legs are burning, 60+ miles in the last 3 days is a big jump for me, my legs and body are not used to this, but on a good note, I've burned almost 2 pounds worth of calories this week! I'm on my way to my goal, 250 or less by Xmas!

Last minute Ride

Well, at 6:30 I came to the realization that I need to either go for a ride, or ugh, go work out on the elliptical machine in my condo's workout room...I chose for the rode.

13.25 miles, 50 minutes...I didn't push to hard my legs were still a little soar from yesterday's epic ride. I must get faster, stronger, thinner!

First Post

I've decided that as part of my efforts to no longer be one of the biggest Clydesdale bikers around, I will log all my rides. I'm also using a website called Sparks People, which is a community of people and free services for people trying to loose weight and be healthier. My first long range goal? 250lb, I started 2 weeks ago at 299, I am currently 291 and 250lb by December 31st is not only possible, it is going to happen!
